The Road / Cormac McCarthy

Just remember that the things you put into your head are there forever, he said. You might want to think about that.
You forget some things, don't you?
Yes. You forget what you want to remember and you remember what you want to forget.
Cormac McCarthy, The Road
"To live a creative life we must lose our fear of being wrong." Joseph Chilton Pearce

"If you press me to tell why I loved him, I feel that this cannot be expressed,
except by answering: Because it was he, because it was I."
Michel de Montaigne, "Of Friendship"

Mrs. Bell

Hannah is one of the most intelligent and creatively gifted students I have ever taught.  It has been such a pleasure working with her again this semester on this Independent Study and as an editor of the Literary Magazine.  In many ways, I think I have benefited as much, or possibly more, than she has.  I am always learning new things from Hannah.  Hannah has the potential to study at any level.  She could probably complete PhD work in English now.  My hope for her is only that she continues to love reading literature and thinking about the texts she reads.  Her final poject demonstrated a deep engagement with literary texts as well as her own unique absorption and expression of language and ideas.  She has many intellectual gifts.  Perhaps more importantly, she also has the rarest gift of all:  that of genuine kindness.  I am honored to have been her teacher.

The highest and best comment I could ever receive from a teacher. I just read all my comments and yours is the one I always love reading since my freshman year. I still keep all my transcripts not for the grades but for your comments. Because what can a single alphabet tell me about how great a teacher you are, how much challenge and fun I had in your class?

I was organizing some things and under forgotten stacks of paper neatly piled in a box, I find my works from your Fresh English class! I had thought I had lost them, inadvertently thrown them out, but here they were under the bed, quietly waiting to be found again!
